The Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station Recipient of a Potential Life-Saving AED Unit from the Michael Vincent Sage Dragonheart Foundation

The Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station, one of Connecticut’s leading venues for weddings, private parties and business events, is proud to announce they are a recipient of an AED unit from the Michael Vincent Sage Dragonheart Foundation.

An automated external defibrillator (AED) is a lightweight, portable device that delivers an electric shock through the chest to the heart. The shock can stop an irregular rhythm and allow a normal rhythm to resume in the heart in a case of sudden cardiac arrest.

“We’re honored to have been given an AED unit from this amazing foundation,” Jim Bucko, Managing Partner for Riverhouse Hospitality, the parent company of The Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station, said. “We will be training our team to use this device if ever needed at one of our events. We’re also planning on having units available for our other venues, The Society Room of Hartford and Riverhouse Catering. It will be great to have these units readily available.”

Statistics show early defibrillation with an AED unit machine and CPR can more than double chances of survival. The American Heart Association estimates that 20,000 to 100,00 Sudden Cardiac Arrest deaths could be prevented if defibrillation was readily available.

The Michael Vincent Sage Dragonheart Foundation was established in honor of its namesake, who passed away in 2010 at the untimely age of 29 from a Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA), the leading cause of cardiac-related deaths in the United States. MVS Dragonheart Foundation empowers bystanders with increased access to AEDs in key public locations, including schools and athletic facilities and a stronger understanding of the ease and safe use of AEDs, when available.
